£116m Elliot Anderson Crowns City 'Kings of Manchester' – Now Prove It, Kid.

The 23-year-old England midfielder? Had a few clubs sniffing around, apparently, including United. But he wasted no breath pledging his loyalty. 'For as long as I've known Manchester,' Anderson told Sky Sports, 'City have been the kings of Manchester.' Bold words. Let's see if he backs them up.

Anderson started out in Newcastle's youth setup, then spent a couple of years at Forest, racking up 92 appearances. His profile certainly got a bump under England's latest regime, getting his first call-up last season. Played a big part, too, after the Three Lions grabbed third place at the World Cup this summer. Not bad.

The ink dried this week, though the handshake happened back in July. He'd been off doing international duty, you see. Anderson joins Enzo Maresca's squad next month. Plenty of time to get comfortable before the real work starts.

Those derby comments? They sting a bit more, considering United was apparently chasing him too. City rolls into Old Trafford on 13 September. Anderson calls it 'one of the biggest derbies in the world.' No argument there. City's director of football, Hugo Viana, went full PR speak, naturally. Anderson, he says, is 'one of the outstanding young midfield talents in world football' and could become 'a complete midfielder.' You hear that a lot, don't you? Let's hope he is.

Kevin De Bruyne, apparently, is his 'career inspiration.' Figures. Calling it 'special' to join the club where De Bruyne made himself a global elite. Guess we all have heroes. Now he's got to show he's more than just a fan.
