Chelsea, Western Sydney Share Spoils in Alonso's Debut

Chelsea scratched out a 1-1 draw against Western Sydney. The stat sheet says the Blues clawed back an equalizer. Some might call that 'attacking intent' from Alonso's new setup. Others? They'd just call it pre-season. This match was his first real look at the squad, sure. A chance to kick the tires, see who’s got juice. But let’s not pretend a draw in July holds much weight.

Everyone says pre-season is about fitness, about 'integrating new ideas,' about 'development.' Fair enough. But tell me, does anyone really get excited about a comeback in a glorified scrimmage? An equalizer just means they didn't completely roll over. Small victories, I guess. We’ll need more than that for a real read.
