Potter's Back: Sweden Brings the Joy After Chelsea, West Ham Woes

Potter talked to Sky Sports. The man remembered Viktor Gyökeres's 89th-minute strike that punched Sweden's World Cup ticket at a packed Strawberry Arena in Stockholm. His verdict? "The best night of my career." Simple as that. He even admitted to replaying the Swedish commentary on YouTube. "Just the emotion in the voice. Then Viktor scores and it's like an out-of-body experience." The pitch invasion freaked him out for a second. Substitutes swarming the field. "There are 15 players on the pitch and I'm thinking, 'That's yellow cards, that's problems.'" But it's the World Cup, right? Rules clearly don't apply. And the celebration? "Got f pd," he grinned. Why not? You slog through the bad times. Soak in the good ones when they finally hit. Let's be clear: Sweden crawled into that play-off berth. Bottom of their qualifying group, clinging to Nations League results. Now? Only their second World Cup appearance since 2006. Go figure. Potter snagged the job in October. He just inked a deal through 2030. No wonder. The guy's practically Swedish: two kids born there, seven years grafting in the country. "For seven years it was my home," he declared. "I feel very Swedish." Chelsea and West Ham were nightmares. Unhappy endings, both of them. But there's no mistaking his vibe now. World Cup-bound with a nation he considers home. Gyökeres and Alexander Isak on the roster. And he's actually enjoying football again. Imagine that.
