Rodri's Madrid Dream Hits a Wall: Back Surgery Looms

The Daily Mail reckons the Spanish international has a serious hankering for the Bernabéu. World Cup glory with Spain, and suddenly the grass looks greener in Madrid. Funny that. He’s clearly decided it’s time to 'engineer a switch,' as they say.

Madrid's midfield situation? It’s complicated, naturally. Rodri's arrival would kick off a game of musical chairs. Think Aurélien Tchouaméni and Éduardo Camavinga – both suddenly prime targets for half the Premier League. The Daily Mail, again, points this out.

Then there's the small matter of his back. The Athletic dropped the bombshell: Rodri's apparently facing surgery. That's not just a 'complication,' is it? That's a full-blown roadblock. Any quick transfer deal? Forget it. His chances of being match-fit for the start of next season? Now a real guessing game.

And what about City? Losing Rodri means they've got to find a top-tier replacement. Quick. For Madrid, though, this is exactly the kind of move Carlo Ancelotti loves. Another big name. Another piece in his midfield puzzle. A clear message to the rest of Europe: we're still buying the best.
