Saka cleared to start against Panama as Tuchel manages England's injury crisis

Saka featured only as a substitute in England's opening two World Cup matches against Croatia and Ghana, with his participation carefully managed following an Achilles issue that plagued his season at Arsenal. Working closely with Arsenal's medical team, Tuchel has overseen a recovery process that has borne fruit.

"He is now, since many days, fully free of pain and discomfort and is ready to go and ready to start," Tuchel told reporters ahead of Saturday's clash.

James, however, faces a spell on the sidelines. The right-back will not feature against Panama and remains uncertain for the knockout stages, though Tuchel expressed cautious optimism about his tournament prospects. "There is some belief that he will be available for us in the tournament," the England manager said.

With James unavailable, Tuchel has defensive options in Djed Spence, Jarell Quansah and Ezri Konsa to fill the gap. The manager also clarified his decision to include Trevoh Chalobah in the squad rather than a natural right-back replacement after Tino Livramento's tournament-ending injury.

On the midfield front, both Elliot Anderson and Declan Rice trained fully on Friday and have been declared fit. Rice carries a yellow card into the Panama match, putting him one booking away from suspension in the round of 32. Tuchel said the Arsenal midfielder has the experience to manage that risk, according to Sky Sports.
